PRS for Music Foundation is supporting the burgeoning new art movement at ZSL London Zoo by funding a unique residency project.
The residency brings together keepers, animals, historical place, artists and musicans to create a new and ground breaking composition.
The project is lead by Pestival, the Artist in Residence at ZSL London Zoo and international mobile arts and science festival and events organisation.
The two musical creators spearheading the residency have an innovative track record in the music recording industry.
They are Ben Nicholls, part of folk star Seth Lakeman's band and his own Dennis Hoppers Choppers, and Andy Mellon from Bellowhead. Both have performed across the world as ambassadors for the recent resurgence in English folk music.
Ben and Andy will bring their multi-instrumental talents and rich tradition of story telling and place to the composition.
The Booker prize winning author DBC Pierre will also be resident on the project, adding his unique literary voice and spirit.
The residency culminates in the iconic Snowdon aviary at the Regents Park site, pictured above.
We're excited to think this could be the start of bringing innovative live music performance and composition to ZSL London Zoo.
